World of Hyatt · Globalist guide
Breakfast and suites anywhere in the world: Globalist
Globalist is the top tier of Hyatt's membership programme (Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Andaz, Hyatt Regency and more). It is one of the few hotel tiers that gives daily breakfast with no regional limits and upgrades you to a suite whenever one is available.
If you're busy, read just this
The bottom line at a glance
- The standard qualification is 60 nights or 100,000 Base Points in a year. Free nights booked with points also count toward nights.
- There is no paid membership that sells qualifying nights, so Korean residents need to earn them through stays.
- Three key benefits: ① Daily breakfast or club lounge access at participating hotels with no regional limits (2 adults + 2 children, gratuity included · some hotels excepted) ② Standard suite upgrade when available ③ 4pm checkout.
- Reaching 60 nights also gives you 1 free night award (Category 1–7) + 2 Suite Upgrade Awards + 2 awards that share your benefits with others separately.
- Status earned in 2026 lasts until the end of February 2028. It is worth trying if Hyatt stays you already have planned bring you close to 60 nights and you have trips where you would use the benefits afterwards. If you would have to fill most of the nights just for status, work out the total cost first.
- If 60 nights is too much, Hyatt Privé (booked through an agency such as HoteLux) gives you breakfast for two, a $100 credit and an upgrade on each stay. Nights and points still count.
- For lower-cost qualifying nights, the guide cites $40–60 Hyatt hotels in China and Southeast Asia, mainly Hyatt Place and Hyatt House. Products that “sell” nights risk account suspension.
- Korean nationals can visit China visa-free for up to 30 days through the end of 2026. Before departure, check the latest entry requirements for your passport and purpose of travel.
0 · Getting started
From sign-up to your first credited stay
If you are new to Hyatt, follow these steps in order. You are set once your first stay shows up in your account as a night.
Getting started checklist
Join → Book → Check in → Verify
Join World of Hyatt for free · Install the app
Use your English name exactly as it appears on your passport. A name mismatch can prevent a stay from posting to your account. Choose from the languages offered in the app.
Book through the Hyatt app or website, or a Privé agency
Agoda, Booking.com and Trip.com bookings earn no nights and no benefits. When booking, check that your member number is included.
Compare prices using the “Member Rate” or prepaid rates
Member rates are usually a little cheaper than standard rates. Prepaid rates are cheaper still but non-refundable, so use them only when your plans are fixed.
Make short requests at check-in
If you have status, ask about upgrades, breakfast and late checkout at check-in.
Check your nights in the app 3–7 days after checkout
You are done once the stay and nights appear under “Account → Activity”. If not, submit a Missing Stay request in the app.
1 · Tier structure
Four tiers, each earned by “nights or points”
World of Hyatt tiers
You move up by whichever you reach first
Counts reset to zero on 1 January each year. Status earned this year lasts until the end of February two years later.
Base Points are 5 per $1 of room spend, so 100,000 points means spending about $20,000 (about KRW 28,000,000) with Hyatt. That is why “60 nights” is usually the realistic route. Earning 1,000,000 lifetime Base Points gives Lifetime Globalist.
2 · Globalist benefits
What you get automatically on every stay
The benefits below apply at participating hotels when you book in your own name through official Hyatt channels. For hotel- and brand-specific exceptions and differences in how benefits are provided, see the “Pitfalls” section.
Benefits on every stay
No regional limits is the biggest difference
Daily breakfast with no regional limits · 2 adults + 2 children · gratuity included
If there is a club lounge, you use the lounge; otherwise breakfast in the restaurant (buffet, à la carte or room service, depending on the hotel). If breakfast costs KRW 40,000 per person at full price, a family of four over 7 nights gets about KRW 1,120,000 worth. What you actually save depends on how you would otherwise have had breakfast.
Upgrade up to a standard suite
If a suite is free, you are upgraded at check-in. It is not guaranteed and is harder at peak times and at resorts.
4pm late checkout
Practically guaranteed at regular hotels; at resorts it depends on the hotel.
Resort and destination fees waived
On both paid and award stays. At US resorts this saves $30–50 a night.
Free parking on award stays
Only where parking is charged to the hotel room bill. Car parks run by outside operators may be excluded.
30% earning bonus
5 base points per $1 + 30% = 6.5 points. Valuing 1 pt at 2 cents, that is point value worth about 13% of the room rate (not a cash rebate).
Guaranteed room when booking 48 hours ahead
Even if the hotel is full, you get a room if you book up to 48 hours before arrival (72 hours for Explorist).
Early access to free night rooms New in 2026
According to the official benefits chart, Globalists can book award inventory 72 hours early.
My Hyatt Concierge
On reaching 60 nights you get a personal contact who handles bookings and requests by email.
Premium internet · bottled water · priority check-in
Also includes the basic benefits that start at Discoverist.
Tier comparison
How is it different from the tier below (Explorist)?
| Benefit | Discoverist | Explorist | Globalist |
|---|---|---|---|
| Points bonus | 10% | 20% | 30% |
| Room upgrade | Preferred room | Higher room | Standard suite |
| Late checkout | 14:00 | 14:00 | 16:00 |
| Breakfast · club lounge | — | — | Daily |
| Resort fee waived | Award stays only | Award stays only | Paid + award |
| Parking on award stays | — | — | Free |
| Room guarantee | — | 72 hours | 48 hours |
| Free night award (milestone) | — | At 30 nights | At 60 nights |
Explorist (30 nights) is an “upgrades without breakfast” tier, so the biggest felt difference is breakfast. Milestone rewards such as free night awards and Suite Upgrade Awards are tied to reaching nights (or Base Points), not to the tier. If you only received the tier through a fast track or similar, they are not given separately.
3 · Milestone Rewards
Awards you get as your nights add up
From 20 nights you choose a reward every 10 nights. The bundle at 60 nights is the biggest, and rewards continue after that.
Milestone Rewards 2026
Automatic rewards + one of your choice
According to Hyatt’s official chart, the 60-night rewards are all automatic: a Cat 1–7 free night, two GoH awards, two suite upgrades and concierge access. A Miraval extra night makes the second night free when you stay one night at a Miraval resort. FIND is a credit for Hyatt experiences. This summary omits American Airlines (AA) seat coupons and status choices. Check Hyatt’s official milestone information and your account for the complete choices.
4 · Using your awards
How to use your awards properly
As you earn nights, awards collect under “My Awards” in your account. Each type has different places, periods and rules for use, and if you leave them unused they simply expire.
Awards at a glance
Comparison of five award types

Suite Upgrade Award
Suite Upgrade Award · the most valuable award
The basic Globalist upgrade is “if a suite is free at check-in”, but this award confirms the suite the moment you book. As long as the hotel is selling a standard suite, it applies without a separate quantity limit.
Book a standard room
Book a cash rate (including Privé) or a standard room on points. When booking on the Hyatt website, you will see the option to apply the award.
Apply the award · check it is confirmed
Apply it on the booking screen, or for an existing booking call Hyatt customer service to attach it. It may be normal for the room type not to change in the app right away, so check the confirmation email.
Up to 7 nights at once
One hotel, one booking, up to 7 consecutive nights. It uses one award whether for 1 night or 7, so it pays to use it on longer stays.
| Works | Doesn't work |
|---|---|
| Cash rates · Privé rates · standard rooms on points | Free night award bookings · GoH bookings |
| Most brands, including Park Hyatt · Grand Hyatt · Andaz · Hyatt Regency | Hyatt Place · Hyatt Select · Hyatt Studios · Caption by Hyatt · some individual hotels (e.g. Park Hyatt Sydney, Andaz Tokyo — see the terms for the full list) |
| Gift to another Hyatt member | Choosing a suite above the “standard suite” |
Guest of Honor
GoH · an award that adds Globalist benefits to one stay
It adds the main Globalist stay benefits to an eligible stay (up to 7 nights) for yourself or another member. The holder does not need to be a Globalist, so you can use a GoH earned at 40 nights on your own trip. However, it does not include earning benefits such as the 30% points bonus.
Breakfast · suite upgrade (when available) · 4pm checkout
Resort fee waiver and, on award stays, free parking — the same as Globalist.
1 bonus night
When the recipient completes the stay, you get 1 tier-qualifying night. The recipient still earns their own nights as usual.
The recipient also joins Hyatt
A free membership is enough. Book directly with Hyatt (or via Privé) in the recipient's name.
My account → Awards → “⋯” next to the award → Gift Your Award
Enter the recipient's surname in English and member number.
Link it to the booking
The recipient applies it to their booking, or asks customer service. Up to 7 consecutive nights at one hotel.
Works on both cash and points bookings, but cannot be combined with free night award bookings. The baseline is 3 a year (2 automatic at 60 nights + 1 at 40 nights), and from 70 nights you get 1 more every 10 nights.
Free Night Award
Free night award · the award with the shortest validity
| How you get it | Where you can use it | Validity |
|---|---|---|
| Reach 30 nights | Cat 1–4 | 180 days |
| Reach 60 nights (Globalist) | Cat 1–7 | 180 days |
| Reach 100 nights | Cat 1–7 | 180 days |
| Reach 150 nights | All of Cat 1–8 (including all-inclusive) | 180 days |
| Brand Explorer (5 brands) | Cat 1–4 | 12 months |
My Awards → select the award → Explore Hotels
Eligible hotels appear on a map. Narrow them down with the category filter.
Enter dates → choose a room marked “Free Night”
Standard rooms only. There are no blackout dates; it works whenever award rooms are open.
Check which award was used
Hyatt's system uses the award expiring soonest first. To avoid spending a Cat 1–7 award on a Cat 3 hotel, booking by phone is safer when you hold several awards.
According to official guidance, the Cat 1–7 awards from 60 and 100 nights can also be used at Cat A–D all-inclusive resorts (check the terms for Cat 1–4 awards). Not valid at: Mr & Mrs Smith partner hotels, among others. Cannot be combined with Suite Upgrade Awards or Club Access Awards. Can be gifted to another member.
Other choices
Club access · 2K · FIND · bonus points
Club Access Award
An award that gives club lounge access
- Up to 7 nights, on cash, Privé, points and points + cash bookings
- Globalists get lounge access by default, so you don't need it yourself
- Useful instead for gifting to family or friends, or when booking an extra room
2,000 pts next stay
2K Next Stay · 2,000 bonus pts on your next stay
- Applies to stays at some brands such as Hyatt Place and Hyatt House
- You must stay within 180 days of choosing it · cannot stack several
- Worth about $40 at 1 pt ≈ 2 cents, so other options are usually better
FIND credit
Credit for Hyatt experiences (tours, spa, classes, etc.)
- In units of $25 · $150 · $300
- Valid for year earned + 14 months
- Few experiences are available in Korea and Asia, so check before choosing
Bonus points
5,000 or 10,000 pts credited straight away
- The simplest choice, with no restrictions
- 10,000 pts = 3 nights at the lowest Cat 1 price on the new chart
- If you are doing a mattress run, you can turn them back into nights
What to choose
Recommended choices by night count
| Nights | Recommendation | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 20 · 30 | 2 Club Access Awards | You don't have lounge access yet at this stage, so it makes the most difference. If you will definitely reach 60 nights, 2,000 pts is fine too |
| 40 · 50 | Suite Upgrade Award | 1 at 40 nights + 2 at 50 nights. If you have a trip where suites are expensive, they are worth far more than points |
| 60 | Nothing to choose | Free night award (Cat 1–7) · 2 GoH · 2 Suite Upgrade Awards · concierge, all given automatically |
| 70+ | Suite Upgrade Award or 10,000 pts | The award if you have a suite trip within the remaining validity, otherwise points |
This recommendation table does not include American Airlines (AA) seat or status choices. Check the official information and your account for the complete options and compare them with your own travel plans.
5 · Hyatt Privé & HoteLux
A way to book and stay like a VIP without status
Hyatt Privé is a rate you can book only through Hyatt-approved travel agencies. Prices are similar to standard rates, but breakfast, a credit and an upgrade are included. HoteLux is a members-only luxury travel agency that lets you book these Privé rates directly in its app.
Hyatt Privé
Five benefits available only on agency bookings
Daily breakfast for two + hotel credit per stay (usually $100)
The credit is once per booking (stay), not “per night”. The amount and minimum stay requirement may vary by hotel, so check before booking. It is deducted from charges made in the hotel, such as restaurants, spa and bar.
Room upgrade
Confirmed on arrival or in advance, depending on the hotel. A suite is not guaranteed.
Early check-in · late checkout
When rooms are available. Usually around a morning check-in and a 4pm checkout.
Hyatt points and nights still earned
Even through an agency it is a proper Hyatt booking, so nights and points count as long as you add your member number. This is the biggest difference from OTAs such as Agoda.
Combined with Globalist benefits
Tier benefits (resort fee waiver, 4pm checkout, etc.) still apply. Suite Upgrade Awards can also be used on Privé bookings.
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Eligible hotels | More than 500 hotels, including Park Hyatt · Andaz · Alila · Grand Hyatt · Thompson · Miraval · some Hyatt Regency. Hyatt Place is excluded |
| Rate | Generally similar to the standard (flexible) rate. It may be a little more than the member rate on Hyatt's website, or cheaper on some dates |
| Payment | Mostly paid at the hotel. Cancellation follows the hotel's rate rules |
| Doesn't work | Not available for free nights booked with Hyatt points |
HoteLux
An app for comparing Privé rates
HoteLux is an app that brings together VIP agency rates from several hotel groups, not just Hyatt Privé. Like Amex FHR or Mastercard Luxury Hotels, the benefits come with the booking.
Install the app · sign up
Membership tiers go Elite → Elite Plus → 1A Club, rising as your stays add up.
Check membership requirements
Check membership levels and applicable conditions in the app.
Register a Mastercard World-tier card or higher
According to reviews, registering such a card gave Elite tier without any stays. Conditions may change, so check in the app.
Find cheap dates in the calendar and book
Prices are shown by date in a calendar. In reviews, dates 4–6 months out were the cheapest, while this month and next were relatively expensive.
Enter your Hyatt member number when booking
If you miss it, nights and points won't be earned. Check once more at check-in.
| Example (based on reviews) | Hyatt website | HoteLux Privé |
|---|---|---|
| Grand Hyatt Seoul (Namsan), 1 night, tax included A review example where it was not confirmed that room, dates and cancellation terms were the same | About KRW 380,000 | About KRW 310,000 + breakfast for two + $100 |
Other Privé agencies often mentioned in overseas communities include classictravel, privateupgrades and whatahotel. Prices and benefits vary slightly by agency.
6 · Reaching 60 nights
Earning nights at low-cost Hyatts
Below are the rules for earning nights through eligible stays and historical low-price hotel examples. Before adding stays, compare transport costs and your time as well as hotel costs.
The Korea supplement includes China and Southeast Asia mattress-run examples for departures from Korea and Korean-passport information. It does not list every country’s card and partner routes.
Rules first
What counts as a night?
| Type of stay | Counts as night | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cash stays (official channels · Privé) | ○ | The basics |
| Free nights on points · points + cash | ○ | Effectively turning earned points back into nights |
| Free night awards (30 nights · 60 nights · Brand Explorer) | ○ | A free night counts as 1 night |
| Stays by someone you gave a GoH award to | ○ | 1 night for you when they complete the stay |
| OTAs such as Agoda and Booking.com | ✕ | No nights, points or benefits |
| Two rooms on the same night | 1 night only | Only your own room counts |
| “Ghost stays” without checking in | ✕ Risky | Breaks the terms. Account suspension and points forfeiture |
Low-price Hyatt examples
$40–60 a night · plus the points you earn while you sleep
Paying cash earns points along with nights, and using those points for a Category 1 hotel gives another night. So to see the real cost, look beyond the “price per night” at “how many points come back per night”.
| Hotel | Region | Lowest known price | Earned per night (base) | Earned per night (Globalist) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hyatt Place Sanya City Center | China Hainan | $45 | 225 | 292 | A resort area, good for consecutive nights |
| Hyatt Place Foshan Lishui | China Guangdong | $48 | 240 | 312 | Near Guangzhou |
| Hyatt House Shanghai Hongqiao | China Shanghai | $50 | 250 | 325 | +5,000 pts per stay of 5+ nights (Hyatt House promotion) |
| Hyatt Centric Meixi Lake Changsha | China Hunan | $53 | 265 | 344 | Hyatt Centric brand (for Brand Explorer) |
| Hyatt Place Luoyang | China Henan | $57 | 285 | 370 | Combine with sightseeing in the ancient capital |
| Hyatt Place Phuket Patong | Thailand | $42 | 210 | 273 | Off-season price |
| Hyatt Place Ha Long Bay | Vietnam | $50 | 250 | 325 | Recommended on YouTube, opened 2025 (under about $50) |
| Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur | Malaysia | $54 | 270 | 351 | +5,000 points per stay of five nights or more 90-day visa-free stay for Korean nationals |
| Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta | Indonesia | $54 | 270 | 351 | Regency-level facilities |
Prices come from an overseas listing site (February 2025) and YouTube, so they may differ now. Points are earned only on the room rate excluding taxes and service charges, so actual earning is slightly less than shown. Check for yourself on the Hyatt app map sorted by “lowest price”.
Mattress runs in China
The closest “night factory” to Korea
Enter visa-free (up to 30 days)
Korean passports get 30 days visa-free until 31 December 2026. Check again before departure whether it has been extended.
Stay many consecutive nights at one hotel
Hyatt counts “how many nights you slept”, not “how many stays”. Check in once for 10 consecutive nights and it counts as 10 nights, saving travel cost and time. However, with promotions that pay a flat bonus per stay (e.g. Hyatt House +5,000 pts for 5+ nights), 10 nights still earns 5,000 pts only once, so if you are after the bonus, splitting into 5-night bookings may work better.
Book directly in the Hyatt app · check in with your passport
Hotels in China must register guests' passports, so your stay record is clearly kept. You can pay with a foreign credit card.
Prepare a translation app and payment methods
Some hotels have limited English. It helps to link a Korean card to Alipay or WeChat Pay for use outside the hotel.
2026 promotions
Check each promotion’s terms before booking
Hyatt runs bonus point promotions almost all year. Most only earn if you register, so check “Offers” in the app before planning a mattress run.
| Promotions (2026) | Details | Period |
|---|---|---|
| Hyatt House · Hyatt Studios extended stays (worldwide) | +5,000 pts per stay of 5+ consecutive nights (up to 50,000) · a 10-night stay still earns 5,000 pts as one stay | 20 January – 31 December · Ongoing |
| Bonus Journeys (worldwide) | +3,000 pts every 3 nights (up to 21,000) · Hyatt Place and Hyatt Select add +1,000 pts every 3 nights (up to 28,000) | Register 2 February – 15 April · Stays until 15 October |
| Summer global promotion | +2,000 pts every 2 nights (up to 8,000) · first stay excluded | Stays 1 July – 7 September · Ended |
| Hyatt Place · Hyatt Select (Americas only) | +3,000 pts per stay of 3+ consecutive nights (up to 30,000) · not valid in China or Southeast Asia | 6/1 ~ 9/30 |
| New hotels · New Hotel Member Bonus Offer | Book the offer rate for double Base Points · Up to 25,000 bonus points per qualifying stay | Check in during the participating hotel’s offer period |
| Discounted points purchase | Buy points at 20% off (points only, not nights) | ~10/5 |
| Brand Explorer | A Cat 1–4 free night award for every 5 brands (up to 7) | Ongoing |
| Asia Pacific | Double points on hotel food and beverage · up to 20% off club/suite rooms | ~9/30 |
New hotel offer terms · You must be a member at booking and during the stay and provide your membership number. Only Base Points from Eligible Rates and Eligible Incidental Charges on the named offer rate are doubled; the extra points are Bonus Points. Previously booked or held stays and stays earning airline miles are excluded. Other offers or discounts can be combined only where expressly permitted. Consecutive nights at the same hotel on this rate count as one stay, even if you check out and back in. Official participating hotels and terms · Checked 2026-10-02
| Same 5 nights, Hyatt House at $50 | No promotion | Hyatt House promotion |
|---|---|---|
| Room cost | $250 | $250 |
| Points earned | 1,250pt | 6,250pt |
| Extra Cat 1 nights from those points (3,000 pts) | 0 nights | 2 nights |
| Result: average room cost per night earned | $50 | About $36 ($250 ÷ 7 nights) |
The calculation above assumes the 2 extra nights can be booked on Cat 1 3,000-pt dates. If a night needs 5,000 pts, you get 1 extra night (average about $42); at 9,000 pts, 0 extra nights ($50). Flights, transport and taxes are extra, and to count towards this year's nights the extra stays must also be completed this year.
Hyatt can change promotion terms and dates at any time. Only the new hotel entry was rechecked against the official terms on 2 October 2026; the other entries reflect public information from September 2026.
Extra boosts
Official ways to reach your nights a little faster
Brand Explorer
One Category 1–4 free night award for every 5 Hyatt brands you stay at. Up to 7 awards, valid 12 months after issue, no time limit on the programme. Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Hyatt Centric, Hyatt Regency and Grand Hyatt are each separate brands, so it pairs well with switching cities on mattress runs.
Free night awards count as nights too
If you use the Cat 1–4 free night award from 30 nights straight away, that night counts towards your nights again. Validity is short, so book as soon as you receive it.
Bonus point promotions
See the “2026 promotions” box above. The more points you collect, the more Cat 1 award nights you can book, which speeds up your night count. Check each offer’s registration and eligible-rate requirements.
Corporate fast track (eligible members only)
Employees of Hyatt partner companies who register with their work email get Explorist for 90 days, and Globalist (until February 2028) if they stay 20 nights in that time. Registration closes 31 December 2026, once every 3 years. Eligible companies are mostly global corporations, so check whether yours is included.
7 · Easy-to-miss pitfalls
Know these and you won't be disappointed
Checklist
Common pitfalls
Agoda and Booking.com bookings earn no benefits and no nights
Only bookings through the official Hyatt app, website or directly with the hotel count. The exception is Privé agencies (HoteLux, etc.) — they are travel agencies, but the bookings are proper Hyatt bookings, so nights and benefits all apply.
Suite upgrades are not “guaranteed”
The basic benefit applies only when a suite is free. If your trip must have a suite, confirm it at booking with a Suite Upgrade Award.
Hotels and brands with breakfast exceptions
All-inclusives already include meals so it adds nothing, and Hyatt Place and Hyatt House already give free breakfast to all guests. Some hotels have their own rules, so check before booking.
The points chart changed in May 2026
The same hotel now has 5 levels by date, from Lowest to Top. Category 1 is 3,000–9,000 pts. Free night awards can be used regardless of the date's price, so they have become more valuable.
Even with two rooms, only one room earns nights
Tier-qualifying nights are based on your own single room. To give benefits to a family member's room, you may need a GoH award.
Chase cards are for US residents only
The “earn nights with a card” method often seen on YouTube (5 nights a year + 2 nights per $5,000) is about a US credit card, so it can't be used in Korea.
